This week

We read Edith Nesbit's retelling of William Shakespeare's The Tempest.  I think Alejandro preferred A Midsummer's Night Dream, which finally came into the library for me after I requested it weeks ago when we read it. For fun Ali, Ben, and I read lines from the first two scenes, which Ali really enjoyed. He liked to come up with voices for the different characters. He of course didn't want to play a woman's part, to which I explained that in Shakespeare's time only men played the women's parts! We love to joke around and pretend to talk Shakespearean English after we're finished. BBC does a pretty decent Shakespeare's Animated Tales that we've been following after our readings.

We continued our journey through Alejandro's science experiment book, looking for the projects we could do with the materials we had at home. Realizing we had everything to make bread, Ali set up the experiment while Aminah slept, and when she awoke we made a lovely loaf of bread. I had planned to take a photo of it afterwards, but it just not occurred to me that we gobbled it up before I remembered.

Ali had a "revelation" today while we were at the YMCA playing during their open Fitness for Kids gym time. He noticed he was the biggest child there and asked why. I explained that all the older kids were in school. Half joking he raised his fist to the sky and said, "I'm the biggest kid in the world right now! Yay home school!"
