Week 2

Alejandro's school week runs Monday-Thursday with me, and Friday is set aside for rest and religious study.
Since Benjamin is usually off on Fridays it is his day to be teacher which gives me a nice little break.

This week we continued to work in our Graphics notebook to learn the proper way to form more capital/uppercase letters.

 Alejandro read the story The Little Read Hen in one of his online reading Primer books which can be found here. On one of our many outings he found a piece of straw that he thought looked like wheat from the story. We came home and he started to illustrate his own version of The Little Red Hen with his piece of 'wheat'.

This is our 2013 calender illustrated by Alejandro for the month of January. Two people drinking hot chocolate on a snowy, windy, and icy day. 

Some art projects Ali's been working on this week. A  dagger, and a shield ( his sword is currently on his him). He is always looking for things to make projects with, mostly cardboard and paper towel and toilet paper rolls. I'm thinking about starting an Art's and Crafts box of some sort where I collect objects like this that would be fun for him to use.

Lastly, Alejandro's Grandma Ginny asked if she could be his Math teacher to which we were more than happy to answer "yes" to. We are using the "Math-U-See" program, which comes with a set of "Unit blocks" to explore with. Today, Friday, we called Grandma Ginny in New Jersey on Skype to have a practice lesson. We were able to "screen share" with her so Alejandro could see her computer screen which has some worksheets on it. It was very neat, and adds a nice element to his weekly lessons with me and his father.
